Terrence Shannon Jr. drops career high 47 in G-league return
Shannon Jr. continues to prove that he belongs in the NBA.
On Wednesday afternoon, Terrence Shannon Jr. was officially reassigned to the Iowa Wolves, the G-league affiliate of the Minnesota Timberwolves. Shannon Jr. was previously assigned to the Iowa Wolves in late November before ultimately being recalled after two dominant games. On Thursday, the former Illini superstar topped his past performances and exploded for a career-high, 47 points. Though the Iowa Wolves ultimately lost the game to the Salt Lake City Stars, Shannon Jr. was thoroughly dominant. He scored those 47 points on 17 for 28 from the field. He also shot 4-7 from the three-point line and continued to get to the basket in vintage “TSJ” fashion.
Terrence Shannon Jr. and the Iowa Wolves will next play on Saturday night vs the Rio Grande Valley Vipers.
Waiting for that moment
Look, Terrence Shannon Jr. is an NBA player. Scoring 47 points on an efficient stat line all but confirms that. The G-league will be a good experience for Shannon Jr. to continue displaying various aspects of his game. When Terrence was first called back up to the NBA, many had hoped that he had shown enough to receive some playing time. That unfortunately never came to fruition in the month of December as Shannon Jr. played 32 minutes total through 6 games. It is truly confusing as to why the 27th overall pick has not gotten an opportunity on a team needing a spark. If Terrence continues to dominate, hopefully, the Timberwolves will have no choice but to give the former Illini a chance.
