Former Illinois Basketball Star Finding His Groove in the NBA
Former Illinois Basketball star, Ayo Dosunmu, is blossoming into the player the Bulls hoped he would be when they drafted him in the second round almost 3 years ago.

Former Illinois Basketball star, Ayo Dosunmu, is in his 3rd season in the NBA, and he’s starting to find his groove at the next level.
Dosunmu was drafted in the second round of the NBA draft in 2021. The Chicago Bulls took a chance on the Chicago native and Illinois Basketball legend, and while he flashed in his rookie season for the Bulls, he’s had a hard time breaking through in the seasons since.
On the season, Dosunmu is averaging 9 points, but his recent stretch of games has got people talking.
Since January 13th, the Former Illinois Basketball star has been averaging around 15 points while playing close to 30 minutes a game. Both of those numbers are way up from their season average, 9 points and 23 minutes respectively. To cap off a great stretch of games, Dosunmu finished with an impressive block and dagger three against the Portland Trailblazers on Sunday night.
The Bulls have been searching for young talent to take them to the playoffs. Ayo’s emergence is exactly what the front office in Chicago has been waiting for. Coby White, another young guard, is also playing at an all-star level for the Bulls.
A looming Zach LaVine trade may also increase Dosunmu’s usage and scoring numbers.
Hopefully, the last two weeks have been a sign of great things to come for the Illinois Basketball legend.
