Future Illinois Basketball Guard Continues EYBL Dominance

Illinois 2025 point guard commit Jeremiah Fears is a very talented player. He comes to Illinois Basketball from Compass Prep in Arizona, where he will round out his high school career. Originally from Joliet, Illinois, Fears will be heading back to his home state in hopes of creating a path to the NBA at his home state school.

Additionally, The young combo guard is currently competing in Kansas City (Mo) with the Indy Heat Gym Rats in the 2024 Nike EYBL tournament. Fears previously put up 50 points in an impressive performance earlier just a few weeks ago and is continuing his EYBL dominance. According to a post from Jamie Shaw of On3, the Joliet native scored 29 points vs the Georgia Stars. He shot 13-22 from the floor (59%) on the day and snagged 9 rebounds.  If the current roster projects as it should, Illinois Basketball should have a significantly talented backcourt with Fears and Kylan Boswell.

Continued Development

Per the film, Jeremiah seems to be filling out his lengthy frame. He looks far more confident attacking the hoop aggressively. Jeremiah has successfully added that portion of his game to his silky smooth jumper. In addition, Jeremiah is now the number 15 prospect in the class of 2025’s ESPN rankings. That is quite the mark for an Illinois Basketball recruit and he should undoubtedly be in the race to be a McDonald’s All-American.
