Illinois basketball targets to watch in EYBL Session 2

The EYBL circuit features some of the best high school prospects in the country from the 2026 and 2027 classes. Session two begins in Memphis on Friday and will run through Sunday. Below are five prospects that Illinois basketball should keep their eye on.
Dylan Mingo – PSA Cardinals
- The Illini offered Dylan at the end of last year. He is from New York, where assistant coach Orlando Antigua has many connections. Mingo is the No. 1 player in New York for the 2026 class and the No. 9 overall player in the country, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. He is currently ranked #4 in the EYBL in points per game, #2 in steals per game, and #1 in efficiency.
Jaylan Mitchell – Brad Beal Elite (2027)
- Jaylan Mitchell is in the 2027 class but is playing up a level on the Brad Beal Elite 17U team. He is originally from Olney, Illinois, and the Illini have been targeting him from the start. Illinois was his first high-major offer, and Mitchell has visited the campus multiple times. The 6’7″ forward is the #2 power forward and the #4 overall player in the 2027 class, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.
Sinan Huan – Team Durant
- Sinan Huan holds five offers from high-major programs, and Illinois joined the mix with an offer in 2023. The 7-foot center is currently among the top five in the EYBL in blocks per game. He is ranked #83 overall and the #8 center nationally by the 247Sports Composite. Huan attends Georgetown Prep in Maryland, a program that also produced former NBA center Roy Hibbert.
Steven Reynolds – Meanstreets
- Steven Reynolds is a 6’5″ guard from South Bend, Indiana, playing for the Chicago-based Meanstreets program. Illinois extended an offer in March 2025, joining other Big Ten programs such as Michigan State, Purdue, Indiana, and Michigan in pursuing him. Reynolds is ranked #64 overall and is the top player in Indiana, per the 247Sports Composite rankings.
Chidi Nwigwe – MOKAN
- Illinois basketball offered Chidi in 2022 and appears to still be in contact. He is from Kansas and currently attends Sunrise Christian Academy, which has produced NBA talent like Buddy Hield, Austin Reaves, Fred VanVleet, and others. Nwigwe is a 6’7″ forward ranked #28 nationally and the top player in Kansas.
Bonus – In-State Talent:
- Marquis Clark – Meanstreets
- Gabriel Sularski – Team Herro
- Lincoln Williams – Mac Irvin Fire (EYCL)
