Former Illini Ayo Dosunmu drops Triple-Double vs Spurs

Former Illini basketball star, Ayo Dosunmu, dropped a triple-double in a 139-124 win over the San Antonio Spurs. The fourth-year guard from Chicago had an impressive 27 points, 10 rebounds, 11 assists, and 3 steals on an extremely efficient night shooting the ball. Dosunmu was a team-high +23 and shot 9 for 13 from the field, including three for three from the three-point line. After somewhat of a slow start to the 2024-2025 season, Ayo Dosunmu has really upped his level as a consistent starter for the Chicago Bulls. He provides so much value on both sides of the ball and has really improved his playmaking abilities. So far, Ayo averages 12.0 points per game, 3.6 rebounds and 4.2 assists.Â
Making his hometown proud
Ayo Dosunmu is certainly becoming an underrated player in the NBA. He does a lot of little things on the basketball court extremely well. Though he has not shot the ball particularly well from the three-point line this year, he has become a respectable threat from there. This has opened up a lot of driving lanes for Dosunmu and Illini fans know best that is where Ayo thrives. The Chicago Bulls are a team that needs to figure out its identity and direction moving forward. With their star players, Zach Lavine and Nikola Vucevic, currently on the trading block, hopefully, Dosunmu will continue with the Bulls to continue representing his hometown.
