Former Illini Pat Bryant carted off the field in scary injury vs Jaguars
Bryant had to have his helmet unscrewed as he was taken to a local hospital in stable condition.
It was a difficult scene at the end of the game between the Denver Broncos and the Jacksonville Jaguars. The game was clearly decided as the Jaguars were up 14 points with just 40 seconds left to go. However, Broncos head coach Sean Payton kept his starters in, and Bo Nix threw a dangerous ball across the field to Pat Bryant. Jaguars Defensive back Montaric Brown put a huge hit on the former Illini, which caused him to go down, be placed on a stretcher, and be carted off the field to a local hospital. Before the injury, Bryant had 5 catches for 42 yards and had slowly seen the field more each week.
After the game, Payton offered at least an encouraging update about Pat Bryant.
“He’s got movement. That’s encouraging. I’ll get an update here probably in the next 15 minutes. But, he was moving his hands and his legs,” said Payton. “So, as we know more, we’ll let you know.”
Bryant has 22 catches for 305 yards this current season.
