Former Illinois Basketball Forward Drops Double-Double in Overseas Exhibition
Former Illini Amani Hansberry had a strong debut for West Virginia Basketbal.
Former Illinois basketball forward, Amani Hansberry, recorded a double-double in his debut for West Virginia. In an overseas exhibition, Hansberry dropped 14 points, 10 rebounds and 3 blocks. Hansberry should play quite a substantial role for the Mountaineers after rarely seeing the floor for the Illini his freshman year. Though, he could have seen the floor a tad bit more, the Baltimore native had all Big Ten player, Coleman Hawkins in front of him. Additionally, Hansberry suffered a back injury that limited him in the middle of the season. As Amani returned from his injury, Dain Dainja really hit his stride and so did the rest of the Illini.
No Hard Feelings from Illinois Basketball
Amani was a strong recruiting win for Illinois Basketball. He did show some potential, however, the Illini have recovered nicely in the front court. They added Tomislav Ivisic, Morez Johnson, Carey Booth, and Ben Humrichous to their unit so they should be fine. Hansberry, however, is a talented prospect, but after Chester Frazier left Champaign, it only made sense that Amani Hansberry would follow suit. Fellow former Illini, Sencire Harris also recorded 11 points in the overseas exhibition as well.
