Former Illinois Basketball Guard Saves Georgetown from Embarrassing Loss
*ducks*. Former Illinois Basketball Guard, Jayden Epps, has always had a knack for scoring the ball. Epps is a pure scoring guard. Though he is still finding his feet at being a true facilitator, he is at his absolute best when he has to score the rock. Jayden Epps was thrust into that role today. Georgetown found itself down 60-49 at home against American University. Georgetown is also a subpar college basketball program at this time after losing at home to Holy Cross. Due to their desperation, Epps was tasked with throwing up some prayers. They paid off as Jayden practically lifted Georgetown to Overtime against the lowly American University Eagles.
Georgetown then eeked out a narrow victory in overtime. Jayden Epps finished with a career-high, 31 points on 6-11 3pt shooting. Despite the outstanding scoring outbursts, Jayden has struggled with efficiency. He currently averages 4.4 turnovers per game, while averaging 5 assists.
In Other news…
I can feel the angry emails and messages building up for publishing this. However, Jayden Epps is still news. Former Illinois Basketball players are doing a great job of detracting me from the painful loss that Illinois Football suffered in Iowa City Saturday night. Illinois Football now has to go into Evanston in a must-win game. Northwestern has put together a solid season despite the controversy, and Illinois fans are all too familiar with how these scenarios play out.
In other news, Brandin Podziemski dropped 23 points on the Minnesota Timberwolves earlier this week. Podziemski has found some time with Steph Curry and Draymond Green temporarily on the sidelines. Skyy Clark also scored 20 points in a gut-wrenching loss to Texas at MSG. Louisville is trying to climb its way out of the absolute basement of college basketball, and Clark is able to put up some relatively average numbers.
