Former Illinois Basketball Star Drops 43 in G-League Game
Former Illinois Basketball star, Malcolm Hill, is currently making his way through the G-league with the Birmingham Squadron. Hill has put up a solid stat line this year, averaging 21 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.5 steals on an efficient 46% fg percentage. He has also shot the 3-ball incredibly well, averaging 40.3 percent. Malcolm continues to impress in the G-League and most recently put up a 44-point performance. Hill continues to be a “do-it-all” kind of forward as he also contributed with 13 rebounds.
The Belleville native has had recent stints with the Chicago Bulls and Atlanta Hawks, however, continues to claw his way towards an NBA roster spot on the G-league. If a team needs a 3-and-D player off the bench, Malcolm Hill could be an intriguing option. He has incredible defensive versatility and continues to shoot the ball at an impressive clip.
The Illini Legacy
Malcolm Hill was a prominent name for Illinois Basketball fans who went to the school in the mid-2010’s. Malcolm poured his heart and soul into trying to will the Illinois basketball program into the NCAA tournament. Unfortunately, Hill never played in March Madness. However, he left a pretty robust legacy and left Illinois Basketball as the third-leading scorer in the program’s history. Ever since graduating in 2017, Malcolm played a few years overseas until he suffered a pretty significant knee injury. Despite the knee injury, Malcolm continues to add to his game. His 3-point shooting may not be the prettiest form, however, it has shown to be effective.
If he can continue honing in on his 3-and-D skills, he will certainly earn a shot at the NBA with NBA summer league time.
