Former Illinois Football Star May Start for Cincinnati Bengals
Former Illinois Football Star running back, Chase Brown, seems to be in a strong position to receive starting reps for the Cincinnati Bengals. This past offseason, recent starter, Joe Mixon, was traded to the Houston Texans which cleared up the path for Brown. The Bengals brought in Zack Moss from the Indianapolis Colts, however, Moss seemed to hint that he will split backfield duties with Brown. Injuries mostly derailed Chase’s rookie season. The London, Ontario native only had 44 carries for a total of 179 yards. With Mixon off the team, Brown’s workload is certain to increase. In fact, he recently told NBC Sports that he is investing in a personal physical therapist and masseur to prepare. So far, this seems to have paid off as Brown showed some solid burst and explosiveness in a clip of the Bengal’s practice.

Chase Brown was an absolute workhorse for the Illini. During his final season, Brown recorded a monster 328 carries for 1643 total yards and 27 catches for 240 yards. Brown was practically involved in every single play during the best Illinois Football season in over a decade. As a result, this led the star running back to become a fifth-round pick to the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2023 NFL Draft. The players in the 2023 NFL Draft all seem to be shining. Tommy Devito, Devon Witherspoon, Quan Martin and the Brown twins are all excelling on their respective teams.
