How Former Illinois Basketball Guard Helped Land Tre White
Former Illinois basketball guard, Skyy Clark, left Champaign on some interesting terms. At first, Clark’s commitment to Illinois sent waves throughout the entire fanbase. He was one of the top-ranked prospects in his class and immediately brought some star power to a team that had just lost Kofi Cockburn. However, Skyy struggled as most true freshmen do and the team was struggling in many ways. Despite beating Texas and UCLA, the Illini found themselves at 9-5 overall while being 0-3 in Big Ten Play.
They had just lost in embarrassing fashion to Northwestern and the team looked like it was imploding from the inside. Afterward, Clark left the team for personal reasons and ended up transferring schools. Illinois Basketball fans had a bitter taste in their mouth after Clark’s departure as rumors circulated about how poor the team’s chemistry was and how the Illini staff had passed up on certain talents due to Clark’s arrival.

Clarity from Coach Tim Anderson
Former Illinois basketball legend, Stephen Bardo, has a show on Youtube called Bardo’s Breakdown. He hosted assistant coach, Tim Anderson, on the show and discussed the offseason additions, including Tre White. Anderson stated that White’s commitment to Illinois stemmed from a former connection. Though names were not specified, Anderson noted that “the relationship there came from one of our former players who played here and went to Louisville“. Anderson added that the former player, suspected to be Skyy Clark, told White to come to Illinois and that it is known that this player believes that transferring out from Illinois was “the worst mistake he ever made”
The episode below starts at the segment in which Coach Anderson and Bardo discuss the situation, however, it is safe to say that the bad blood between the fanbase and Clark should disintegrate after this.
