How to Watch: Illinois Football vs Washington
Every possible way to check out Illinois Football’s week 9 showdown with the Washington Huskies
Coming off a much-needed bye week following a 30-16 loss to Ohio State, the Illinois Football team hits the road to Seattle to face coach Jedd Fisch and the Washington Huskies — a matchup that could prove pivotal in the Illini’s pursuit of 10 wins and a College Football Playoff berth.
Currently sitting at 4th place in the Big Ten at 5-2, Bret Bielema’s 23rd-ranked squad seemingly has major control of its own destiny. According to ESPN’s College Football Playoff predictor, the Fighting Illini would have an 87% chance to make the College Football Playoff if they were to win out the remainder of their final 5 games on the schedule. It’s certainly possible based on matchups, with the likes of (3-4) Rutgers, (4-3) Maryland, mightily struggling (2-4) Wisconsin, and (5-2) Northwestern on Senior Day still ahead.
That said, their biggest test remaining, seemingly, is this week’s 9 road trip into unfamiliar territory with 5-2 Washington.
Coach Fisch’s squad is fired up following a 24-7 thumping to Michigan in Ann Arbor, where the Huskies offense was only able to produce 40 rushing yards on 249 total yards of offense vs the Wolverines. Certainly, a big home test could be just what the doctor ordered for the Huskies, who also hold playoff aspirations fighting for the 4th place position, to get steered back on track, and jump the Illini in position for a potential CFP appearance.
It’s shaping up to be a good one in Seattle. Don’t want to miss out on the action? Check out our breakdown of several ways to check out the Fighting Illini’s week 9 throwdown with Washington.
