Illinois basketball adds Arizona State transfer guard Quentin McCoy
Illinois basketball is less than two months away from tipping off its exhibitons.

Illinois basketball has added one final piece to its 2026-2027 roster. The Illini announced that Arizona State transfer guard Quentin McCoy has officially signed with the program. McCoy, a 6-foot-3, 175-pound guard, will join the program before the fall semester. In two seasons at Arizona State, McCoy logged six total minutes of court time. He played his high school ball at Robert Lindblom Math & Science Academy in Chicago, Illinois. McCoy started all 32 games during his senior season and helped Lindblom win a regional championship.
Of note, Quentin McCoy is the cousin of Illinois basketball legend Ayo Dosunmu and played his AAU ball with the Mac Irvin Fire.
McCoy’s impact
Quentin McCoy brings a winning attitude and Chicago toughness to the Illini basketball roster. Though he is not expected to play much of a role, he adds guard depth to Illinois. The Illini have a lot of young guards like Ethan Brown and Quentin Coleman. Players like McCoy and sophomore guard Blake Fagbemi will serve as key players on the scout team in aid of the development of Brown and Coleman. McCoy has two years of high-major experience as a walk-on at Arizona State.
