Illinois basketball: Former forward Luke Goode drops 20 in G-league Debut
Some former Illini have been shining in action during NBA G-league play
Former Illinois basketball forward Luke Goode has made his way to the NBA G-League! After spending three years in Champaign, Goode transferred to Indiana University and had a solid senior season. Though he applied for a fifth-year waiver, that was ultimately declined and Goode has since signed with the South Bay Lakers. The South Bay Lakers are the NBA G-League affiliate of the Los Angeles Lakers and feature former Illini Tevian Jones, and former college stars in Drew Timme and RJ Davis. In the season opener vs the Grand Valley Suns, Goode showed that he belongs.
The Former Illinois basketball sharpshooter dropped 20 points on 8-13 from the field while hitting four of nine three-point attempts. In a 144-105 win for the South Bay Lakers, Goode was a stellar +26 overall while playing 24 minutes.
Shooting translates
Shooting has always been Goode’s calling card. During his senior season at Indiana, Goode shot 39.2 percent from the three-point line. If he can continue to provide reliable shooting and team defense, Goode should have plenty of success over in the G-league. His shooting stroke is effortless, and he always plays with a motor.
Of note, another former Illinois basketball player, Tevian Jones, dropped 24 points in the win. Jones played 37 minutes and should also be featured on the South Bay Lakers.
