Thankfully, coach Brad Underwood and the Illini had no problem putting away the Nittany Lions (12-4) despite being a man down. Certainly, it was an impressive win for Illinois considering PSU’s recent 81-70 victory over Matt Painter and no. 8 Purdue. Huge performances from F Morez Johnson Jr., G Ben Humrichous, and GTre White fueled the momentous victory, exemplifying the Illini’s “next man up” mentality, in addition to highlighting Illinois talented depth.
However, the status of Jakucionis still remains unclear as Illinois Basketball prepares for USC. According to coach Underwood, the talented Freshman guard is currently a gameday decision vs USC. To date, KJ averages 16.4 points, 5.6 rebounds, 5.4 assists, all while shooting 49.6% from the field.
Underwood:“I think we’ll wait until tomorrow (1/11 vs USC) and see what that game-day decision looks like,“ stated Underwood in his Friday (1/10) media availability.
“We’ll see….. We’ll just see what it looks like tomorrow,” Underwood stated hesitantly, not wanting to give away to much info at this time.
