What Tim Anderson's Departure Means to Illinois Basketball
Feb 1, 2024; Columbus, Ohio, USA; Illinois Fighting Illini head coach Brad Underwood watches during the first half of the NCAA men’s basketball game against the Ohio State Buckeyes at Value City Arena.

Illinois basketball’s roster has now fully arrived on campus. Per his Instagram page, big man Tomislav Ivisic has officially arrived at the Illinois campus. After an extended wait with the entire process that is required for an overseas citizen to arrive at a college campus, Ivisic completes the Illini’s roster. He will now immediately join team activities and hopefully be up to speed by the time the fall rolls around. The Croatian big man initially committed to the Illini on May 6th, shortly after assistant coach Orlando Antigua returned to Champaign.

Though it will be Ivisic’s first year in college basketball, the big man will turn 21 years old on August 9th. That means he should have the physicality and mental fortitude to contribute substantial minutes to Illinois Basketball. After all, Ivisic put up 23 points and 12 rebounds against now Big Ten foe, USC.

What’s Next?

Hopefully, by the time the season rolls around, Tomislav Ivisic will immediately be eligible to play. As with most Overseas additions, transfer credits and academics are also a big factor once they arrive on campus. For instance, Tomislav’s brother, Zvonimir, did not receive academic eligibility at Kentucky until a few months into the season. Many project Tomislav to start for Illinois basketball. He is the only true 7-footer on this roster and fits exactly what they need at the center position.

Regardless, the Illini now have every piece of their talented roster ready to roll.
