Illinois Basketball Offers High-Flying 2025 Wing
The Illini offer an intriguing wing out of South Carolina.
Illinois basketball recently offered Trey Maddox, a high-flying wing out of Gray Academy. Maddox is a 6 foot 6 small forward who is currently ranked 116th in the 247sports overall rankings. He is an athletic, long forward who projects as a three-and-D wing at the next level. He most recently averaged  10.1 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.0 steals per game as a junior. The lengthy forward could be an interesting piece for the Illini as they currently do not have a piece like Maddox on the roster. Additionally, Ben Humrichous is the only senior player on the Illini’s current roster, hence Trey Maddox could be an interesting replacement at the small forward or power forward.
On top of that, if Kasparas Jakucionis and Will Riley make the jump to the next level that some are expecting, Illinois basketball will certainly need help on the wing. On top of that, Maddox’s intriguing length and athleticism are a contrast to the rugged, paint-oriented styles of wing players, Ty Rodgers and Tre White.

A different type of offer
For the most part, Illinois has been involved with a variety of guards. From Jasper Johnson, Cayden Boozer, and Mikel Brown Jr. Illinois basketball is after some talented point guards. However, they recently have offered a group of intriguing forwards. In addition to Maddox, the Illini have offered Amari Evans and Spencer Ahrens, two intriguing forwards. Also, they have reportedly been in contact with Finnish power forward, Miikka Muurinen. Without a doubt, these have been some intriguing offers as the question continues to be asked. How much will Brad Underwood prioritize prep recruiting?
