Illinois basketball offers three-star forward from Iowa Landon Davis
Can the Illini close quickly on a rising 2026 prospect?

Illinois basketball has officially offered a scholarship to 2026 three-star forward Landon Davis. The 6’8” prospect from Waukee, Iowa, announced the news today on his X account (@Landonmdavis16), writing:
“After a great conversation with Coach Underwood and Coach Hamer, I am blessed to receive an offer from the University of Illinois. #AGTG”
Davis attends Northwest High School in Iowa. Additionally, he plays alongside fellow Illinois target Colin Rice, who received an offer from the Illini in early June. On the AAU circuit, Davis suits up for Iowa United on the Adidas 3SSB circuit. He is currently averaging 8.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 1 block per game, while shooting an efficient 61.7% from the field and 40% from beyond the arc. That
Illinois is the first high-major program to extend an offer, though Davis is also receiving interest from the University of Iowa. He currently holds offers from Illinois, Drake, UIC, and Northern Iowa.
Ranked as the #4 player in Iowa and the #28 power forward nationally in the 2026 class (per 247Sports Composite), Davis would bring valuable size, skill, and shooting to an Illinois frontcourt that could need reinforcements next season.
The Fit?
Illinois basketball needs some wing depth in its class of 2026 for a few reasons. Kylan Boswell will be playing in his final year of eligibility, and Andrej Stojakovic is expected to at least be a candidate for the NBA. Additionally, Ty Rodgers is a question mark as he is expected to miss a majority, if not the entire 2025 season. Senior forward Ben Humrichous will also be out of college eligibility. With that being said, Davis fits the mold of a long, efficient wing shooter with playmaking skills. If the Illini can sell their development plan to Davis, he can be a major piece of the Illini’s future.
