Illinois Basketball Signee Snubbed From McDonald’s All-American Game
Morez Johnson Jr is the best player in the state of Illinois. Without a doubt, the Illinois basketball signee is the leader for the Mr. Basketball title. Despite this, Morez Johnson was snubbed from the McDonald’s All-American Game.
Illinois Basketball Signee Snubbed From McDonald’s All-American Game
Illinois Basketball has not had a McDonald’s All-American in quite some time. Despite landing high four-star talent and players that have gone on to professional basketball leagues, Illinois Basketball never seems to have a representative in the Burger Boy game. Players like Ayo Dosunmu and Adam Miller were chosen for the Jordan Brand Classic. Kofi Cockburn and Andre Curbelo have all received high-end national praise, however, they did not make the list.

Politics?
247sports’ Travis Barnham wrote a piece stating that Morez Johnson was one of the notable names left off the roster. Johnson Jr will certainly be in the Jordan Brand Classic. per 247sports, Johnson Jr is the 27th-ranked prospect in the class of 2024. For more reference, he is the 28th prospect per ESPN’s top 100.
Morez was attempting to be the first McDonald’s All-American since Jereme Richmond in 2010.
Continued Dominance
Morez put up 21 points and 19 rebounds in a Friday night win vs Crete-Monee. Despite a swollen and dislocated finger, Morez went on to post a 21-point and 10-rebound game against Benet. Again, Johnson led his team to victory and is practically a walking double-double. These statlines are nothing new for the Chicago big man. He seems to put up stat lines like these at least twice a month. Regardless of the decision, Illinois Basketball has one of the most dominant big men in the class of 2024 on his way to Champaign.
Johnson Jr will be an absolute stud in the Orange and Blue, regardless of the national game he plays in.
