Illinois Basketball Star Allowed to Return, Effective Immediately
Illinois Basketball star Terrence Shannon Jr has been granted his temporary restraining order under Title IX, according to Brad Sturdy of IlliniGuys.com
This undoubtedly has huge ramifications for Illinois on the basketball court and off of it. As of the time of the writing of this article, the University and its athletic department, have yet to comment.
**UPDATE**
Terrence Shannon Jr has been officially reinstated to the Illinois Basketball team. Statement here.
On the court, Terrence Shannon would be returning to a team that has performed admirably (for the most part) in his absence, going 4-2 with decent wins against the likes of Michigan State, but a bad home loss against Maryland. Coleman Hawkins, Marcus Domask, and Quincy Guerrier have stepped up since Shannon’s suspension in late December. Hawkins, in particular, has emerged as a superstar, with an incredible performance against Michigan on Thursday night.
Shannon’s return would only make Illinois better on the basketball court. He is an All-American, a superstar in college basketball, and somebody who could lead Illinois to the promise land of a second weekend.
But just how big of a distraction will this be for a team that has seemed so connected up to this point? Time will tell, but Brad Underwood will have to keep them locked in, despite the, likely loud, outside noise. The reality is that Illinois Basketball will have a player suiting up with an active charge against him. This news is bound to make some headlines and get people talking.
This is still a developing situation and there may be more news to come.
