Illinois Basketball Star Speaks For First Time Since Rape Charge
Terrence Shannon Jr spoke to the media at the 2024 NBA Combine after a near five month silence. The Illinois Basketball star last spoke to media members on December 22nd, 2023 after the Illini dominated Missouri at the annual Bragging Rights game. On December 28th, Shannon Jr was officially suspended from the team after the news broke that he was charged with Rape. Shannon Jr did return to play on January 21st, however, did not meet with the media for the remainder of the season.
Credit to WCIA News for the clips of Shannon Jr’s interview. In terms of the case, Shannon Jr will face a trial on June 10th. This date should hopefully provide more clarity prior to the NBA draft on June 26th and June 27th.

Draft Stock?
Terrence Shannon Jr actually opted out of workouts due to what seemed to be a hamstring injury. However, Shannon Jr described himself as “the best two-way player in the draft”. It is hard to argue against this as the Illinois basketball star averaged 23.0 points and showed elite defensive abilities with his length, athleticism, and quickness. Given an ongoing legal case, it is difficult to project where Shannon Jr will be drafted. Despite this, he is an elite basketball talent and our sources tell us that if he was a few years younger, he would be a lottery pick without question.
