Illinois Basketball Stars Climbing Recent NBA Mock Drafts
Where do Will and KJ fall on the recent Boards as Draft Day Approaches?
As June 25th nears, the Illinois Basketball program finds itself on the cusp of a milestone moment.
For the first time in program history, the Illini are likely to send two players into the first round of the NBA Draft — a historic achievement in Brad Underwood’s tenure, and a defining moment that further cements his impact on leading Illinois Basketball back to the heights of national relevancy. The Illini are certainly developing pros under coach Underwood’s leadership — and doing it at a high level.
The dynamic one-and-done duo of Will Riley and Kasparas Jakucionis has been locked in since Illinois’ Round of 32 loss to Kentucky back in mid-March. Since then, they’ve put in the work — competing at the NBA Combine, refining their skillsets, and grinding through pre-draft workouts. As both Illini standouts prepare to hear their names called under the bright lights of Barclays Center, pre-draft projections are starting to flow, and possible landing spots for both Riley and KJ are coming into focus.
So, who’s projected to claim the Illini’s rising stars come June 25th? (7 PM CST on ESPN & ABC)

Where Could The Illinois Basketball Stars Potentially Land?
Both Jakucionis and Riley continue to hold firm as projected first-rounders in most major mocks, including the latest from the Associated Press. If that projection holds true, Illini fans could witness both names called on Wednesday (June 25th) — undoubtedly, a milestone moment for Brad Underwood, Josh Whitman, and the Illinois Basketball program.
So, where exactly does the AP envision KJ and Will coming off the board?
