Illinois Basketball to Host Intriguing Stretch Forward for Official Visit
The Illini continue to host intriguing versatile prospects.
Illinois Basketball continues to host some intriguing prospects for official visits. Per 24/7 High School Hoops and League Ready, Illinois basketball will host 4-star power forward, Chamberlain Burgess, for an official visit during the weekend of October 11th. Burgess is a 6-foot 9inch prospect who is currently ranked 144 in the 247sports rankings. After visiting Champaign, Burgess will take a visit to BYU, which seems to be the favorite. Burgess spoke to Robby McCombs of VanquishTheFoe.com (BYU SB nation site) about likely taking an LDS mission trip before enrolling in college. This means that he will likely not join any college program until 2027.
Despite this, Burgess is an interesting prospect for the Illini and could fit in multiple ways.

A different type of big and a strong compliment.
If Burgess does plan on taking a mission trip, it is unclear how that would work with Illinois basketball. However, if he is to join the class of 2025, he makes a lot of sense for Illinois Basketball. Burgess is a versatile big man with lots of skill and has a strong perimeter game. He would fit in perfectly alongside Morez Johnson, who looks to be the big man of the future. Recently, the Illini have looked for prospects who can spread the floor alongside a dominant paint player like Morez Johnson Jr. They have looked into pieces such as Spencer Ahrens, another stretch big man in the class of 2025. Also, they recently hosted combo guard, Keaton Wagler, an elite combo guard shooter from Kansas.
After a slew of classes focused on the transfer portal, it has been interesting to see the type of prospect that Brad Underwood has been pursuing.
