Illinois Basketball to Receive Official Visit from 5-Star Guard

Illinois Basketball will receive an official visit from Jasper Johnson. Per Joe Tipton of On3, the 5-star guard will take official visits to Illinois and Alabama. Per 247sports, Johnson is the 10th-ranked overall prospect in the class of 2025. He is a 6 foot 4 combo guard from Branson, Missouri with offers from Alabama, Auburn, Baylor, and Kansas. The talented guard was also a part of the U18 Team USA basketball team that just won the Gold Medal. That team featured future Illinois Basketball players, Jeremiah Fears and Morez Johnson Jr.

During that time, Jasper Johnson averaged an efficient 10.0 points in 15.9 minutes. He shot 51.1 percent from the field and 42.3 percent from the three-point line.

Big Game Hunting at Illinois Basketball

Illinois Basketball currently has one commit in the class of 2025. 247sports currently has Jeremiah Fears ranked number 32 in the class of 2025. On top of recruiting Johnson, the Illini currently sit extremely well for Will Riley. Riley is also in the top 10 of the class rankings, however, is more than likely to reclassify to the class of 2024. Whether the Illini land Jasper Johnson or not, they are certainly hunting some big game. Jasper Johnson is a talented scorer who is also looking at Alabama for an official visit. Nate Oats is known as one of the best offensive minds in the country and talented scorers always seem to look their way.

Brad Underwood seems to have entered that conversation, as the Illini held one of the top offenses during the 2023-2024 season.
