This Illinois Basketball Transfer Addition is the Most Underrated

As the month of June approaches, Illinois basketball is still hoping to make one final addition to its roster. They have had quite an active offseason while trying to replace practically their entire roster. The pieces in the frontcourt are quite intriguing. Tomislav Ivišić and Carey Booth both have a well-rounded skillset that makes them exciting pro prospects. Kylan Boswell is a hometown kid who is a former five-star prospect. He also is the first true floor general on the Illini since Andre Curbelo. Additionally, Ben Humrichous is a lethal shooter who projects as the perfect replacement for Marcus Domask and the “booty-ball” leader.

However, there is one transfer addition that is the most underrated and rarely talked about. That addition is Tre White.

The Wing Illinois Basketball Has Needed?

Tre White is a former top 40 prospect who played his freshman year at USC. The 6 foot 7 inches White averaged 9 points and 5 rebounds on 47.4 percent shooting. In fact, he was labeled as a possible second-round draft pick in the 2024 draft prior to his transfer to Louisville. White scored the ball more, however, played on a mess of a Louisville squad. Per the film, White has a strong mid-range game and can easily provide the rebounding and toughness that Quincy Guerrier provided. Additionally, he seems to be more skilled a player than Guerrier was and can score in a larger variety of ways. He may not be the dead-eye shooter that Quincy was, however, the role is certainly open.

Former Illini legend, Stephen Bardo, also has voiced his support of the junior forward. If Illinois Basketball cannot land another wing in the transfer portal or international ranks, Tre White and Ty Rodgers will have a lot of duties out on the wing. Though many are not talking about Tre White, the skill and talent is definitely there to take on a huge role.
