Illinois Football Announces Spring Game Date

Illinois Football announced on social media that their spring game will be on April 20th! The spring game has always been a fun preview for the Illinois Football season as the world transitions from College basketball fever. Illinois will likely have most of the same faces on the field and there probably will not be much revealed. Despite this, it will be nice to see some of the young quarterbacks get some reps. It will be nice to see some of the new skill players try to show that they are impact players.

Luke Altmyer, the likely starting quarterback, is likely going to be sidelined. Most of the running back room will also be sidelined as well due to injury. Hence, the true freshmen and sophomores will have a chance to shine.

Recent Illinois Football news

Illinois Football has been going through some changes. First off, they finished their season with some key players set to take that step to the next level. Jer’zhan Newton, Keith Randolph, and Isaiah Williams are notable names from the programs who have chosen to take their talents to the NFL draft. As a result, Illinois Football hit the transfer portal extremely hard. They landed some key veterans in major positions of need. Afterward, the coaching staff went through some transition. Bret Bielema decided to move on from Andy Buh and Antonio Fenelus. Afterwards, Illinois Football lost their outside linebacker coach, Charlie Bullen, to an NFL position.

Bielema has filled those spots. He has hired David Gibbs, Archie McDaniel, and Justin Stepp to fill in those roles. For the most part, the dust seems to have settled now.
