QB Hudson Card Will Not Face Illinois Football on Saturday

As if the current struggles for Purdue football weren’t enough.

According to Tom Dienhart of Gold and Black (On3), Purdue quarterback Hudson Card will not face Illinois Football on Saturday. This is certainly a major blow to the Boilermaker’s offense, who has already faced their fair share of difficulties in 2024. Dienhart states in his report that the Senior is out due to concussion protocol. Of course, a head injury is unpredictable, and an exact timetable for his return is not yet available.

The Plan for Purdue

Redshirt Freshman Ryan Browne is the next man up for Purdue. Paired with a brand new offensive coordinator Jason Simmons, who is taking over mid-season, and things could get interesting on Saturday. Browne will be making his first collegiate start in Champaign, which will prove to be a difficult task in itself.

What a great opportunity for Illinois Football to not only take back the cannon from Purdue but to beat up on their border rival at home. A big win would undoubtedly boost the current momentum surrounding the program going into a huge game with Michigan.
