News: Bret Bielema met with the media and announced at his spring practice preview press availability that scholarship players (OL) Magnus Moller and (DB) Terrance Brooks have officially entered their names into the transfer portal, prior to spring practices.

Brooks, a former Texas starter entered the program as a highly anticipated transfer portal pick-up just a short year ago, after departing from the Longhorns. Despite the early hype, Terrance’s lack of playing time became a concern as the 2024 season progressed. The talented cornerback’s lack of playing time, left Illini fans scratching thier heads. However, as Kaleb Patterson and Jahiem Clarke stepped up for the Illini in impactful roles, it became clear that it wasn’t working out for Brooks and the Illini.

Danish offensive tackle Magnus Moller made an impact for the Illini off the field as the program’s SAAC representative – “A group of student-athletes who provide input on NCAA rules and policies.” Physically, he possesses the massive frame (6’9 and 315 lbs) and athletic upside to have potentially been a quality starter for Illinois Football. However, things just seemingly haven’t worked out on the field thus far for the redshirt sophomore, who saw very limited snaps in his 3 seasons in Champaign.

T-Brook’s actually wasn’t with us at the bowl game as well. He didn’t participate in that. I think Terrance is actually still in school and I’ve had some communication with his folks and him. But, he hasn’t been with us since three or four days prior to the bowl game.”

“Magnus actually left the team last year. He wasn’t with us midway through …nothing more than kind of at a crossroads in his life where he gave up football. It’s nothing negative or positive. I still check on him. I know academically he’s doing great.
