Jeremy Fears Jr. gets away with obvious trip on Illini’s David Mirkovic
Fears Jr. has developed a reputation of questionable plays this season.
Jeremy Fears Jr. strikes again. This entire season, the redshirt-sophomore guard for Michigan State has had his play called into question for subtle cheap shots. Though Fears Jr. has turned himself into one of the best players in the Big Ten, his stellar play is overshadowed by backwards kicks, elbows to the face, and foul-baiting. The behavior was brought to light in last Friday’s marquee showdown vs Michigan State and Michigan, where Jeremy Fears Jr. was seen tripping and subtly elbowing Michigan forward Yaxel Lendeborg. Dusty May was vocal about how Fears’ behavior was not acceptable.
However, Fears Jr. continued doing this vs Minnesota when he backward kicked Michigan forward Langston Reynolds. Spartans coach Tom Izzo vocally spokeout against this behavior and publicly criticized Fears’ behavior and actions. Supposedly, they had a “come to Jesus” meeting after the game vs Minnesota.
He does it again
Jeremy Fears Jr. clearly tripped David Mirkovic towards the end of the first half. He planted his foot and clearly extended it. Brad Underwood went ballistic on the sidelines and asked for an appeal, however, the referees did not make anything of it. To most watching on TV, it was pretty obvious that this was a trip..
