Rumor: Terrence Shannon Jr. is Drawing Draft Interest from the Chicago Bulls
Former Illini Basketball star, Terrence Shannon Jr, is supposedly continuing to rise up NBA draft boards. The Athletic has reported that Shannon Jr has drawn interest from teams inside the lottery, most specifically, the hometown Chicago Bulls. A recent mock draft by The Athletic has Shannon Jr. as the number 17th pick in this 2024 NBA Draft. As of now, the pick is owned by the Los Angeles Lakers. However, there have been reports of the Chicago Bulls moving down from the 11th spot to the 17th spot.
The Athletic has just reported that Terrence Shannon Jr. is the name the Chicago Bulls have been associated with heavily with over the last 48 hours.
The Athletic has updated their mock where they have the Bulls trading down to #17 and drafting Shannon.

If this plays out to be true, Shannon Jr will be coming home to play in his hometown of Chicago and will also play alongside former Illini, Ayo Dosunmu. On top of that, Shannon Jr would be the first Illini first-round draft pick since 2012. Certainly, there are a lot of implications for this rumor and a variety of storylines that could play out. Since Shannon Jr was found Not Guilty of rape and sexual battery, he has seen his draft stock rise. Initially, Mock drafts slotted him towards the end of the first round to the early second round.
However, as time has passed, Mock Drafts have included Terrence Shannon Jr at picks inside the 20’s. The teams involved with those picks include the New York Knicks, the Washington Wizards, and the Minnesota Timberwolves.
