Terrence Shannon Jr. drops Double-Double vs OKC Thunder
Shannon Jr. seems to produce whenever given the opportunity
Former Illini Terrence Shannon Jr. had his first NBA Double-double in a major win over the Oklahoma City Thunder. Shannon Jr. played 29 minutes in the 131-128 win and dropped 17 points while grabbing 10 rebounds. The former Illini made seven of his ten field goal attempts and also contributed two blocks and one steal. After bouncing between the NBA G-League a few times this season and earning a lot of “DNPs”, Terrence Shannon Jr. has now found himself as a key contributor on a playoff basketball team.
Injuries to Julius Randle, Donte DiVincenzo, and Rudy Gobert have forced the rookie into a bigger role. To no one’s surprise, Terrence has taken full advantage and has shown that he is ready to contribute at the NBA level. In his past five games, Shannon Jr. has played approximately 23.2 minutes per game.
Making light of it all
Terrence Shannon Jr. has always had a positive attitude. Despite bouncing between the G-league and having a very minimal role for most of the season, Shannon Jr. continues to smile through it all and to work to stay ready. As everyone knows, Shannon Jr’s jersey was infamously hung upside down in a banner ceremony in Champaign.
Despite the viral moment, Shannon Jr. continues to smile it off. In fact, he even made T-shirts out of the upside-down banner with plans to donate the earnings to a local Boys and Girls Club.
Terrence Shannon Jr. is a special human being with a special family. This is only the start of what will be a very productive NBA Career.
