What Brad Underwood loves most about the 2024 Illinois Basketball team

Illinois Basketball is almost here. During Big Ten Media Day today, fans were able to get their first taste of college basketball returning to action. As always, Brad Underwood does an outstanding job of selling his program and preparing fans for yet another successful season. This season is slightly different than past seasons in which Underwood has nearly a completely new roster. Underwood has called this roster “the most talented” roster that he has had as head coach of Illinois Basketball. There are a lot of talented new pieces for the Illini headman, however, he seems to emphasize that this team needs to adopt toughness.

However, Brad Underwood was very purposeful in how he decided to fill this roster. Coach Underwood hit his target and he seems to love his roster because of that.

Positional size and shooting

Illinois basketball fans were all thrilled with an elite eight finish. However, the loss really seemed to tick off the Illini headman. When the offseason started, Underwood seemed to prioritize positional size and strong shooting. That was very clear when the first addition of the offseason was pure shooter, Jake Davis. However, each addition after that has exceptional positional size. Tre White, Kylan Boswell, Ben Humrichous, and Carey Booth all have tremendous versatility and can space the floor.

Once Underwood finds a way to implement his trademark “everyday guys” into this team, watch out.
