Where Terrence Shannon Jr was Selected in 2024 NBA Draft
Terrence Shannon Jr. was Selected by the Minnesota Timberwolves
The Minnesota Timberwolves selected Terrence Shannon Jr with the 27th overall pick in the 2024 NBA draft. Shannon Jr is the second NBA draft pick of the Brad Underwood era alongside Chicago Bulls guard, Ayo Dosunmu. Additionally, Shannon Jr is the first Illini to go in the first round of the NBA draft since 2012. Terrence proved that he was arguably the best perimeter player in all of college basketball with a historic season for the Illini. The Lincoln Park native averaged 23.0 points per game and consistently flashed NBA tools each game.
The 6 foot 6 wing can play both sides of the ball and has proven he can provide lockdown defense if necessary.
A Strong Fit
Shannon Jr will certainly be one of the best rookies in the NBA. Pairing him alongside a generational talent in Anthony Edwards and solid NBA players such as Karl Anthony-Towns and Naz Ried is an absolutely awesome situation. Minnesota needs some perimeter scoring to help their superstar and Shannon Jr fits that bill. He has an NBA-ready game and all the tools needed to succeed. The only reason Shannon Jr was not picked sooner was because of his age. However, now that he is drafted, the 24-year-old will represent the orange and blue proudly at the next level.
