A Chance to Make the Cut

As NFL teams cut down to their final 53-man roster, former Illini star playmaker Isaiah Williams is looking to make a splash in Detroit.

The UFDA has played really well during the preseason for Dan Campbell’s rising NFC North squad. Over 3 games, the former Illini led the Lions in receptions with 11 total for 123 yards total.

Undoubtedly, Head coach Dan Campbell is high on the rookie playmaker. Campbell told the media “You guys know what 83 is, it’s shown up, he’s made plays all camp. He’s really more that slot, he falls into the mode a little bit like Saint (Amon St. Brown), Lif (Raymond) and Tom Kennedy.”

Has Williams proven himself to the staff to be valuable enough of an asset to make the final cut of Detroit’s 53-man roster?

According to Isaiah

Certainly, the former Illini has out performed all expectations thus far. Furthermore, many in Lions media have began speculate if Isaiah has a real shot of getting the nod for the 53-man roster.

Williams told SideLion Report that he believes he is confident that he impressed enough to make the cut. “In a way, yeah. But you never know because at the end of the day. They’re (Lions) trying to set up a team to win a championship and you never know how that’s supposed to set up. But, I hope I did enough and showed them that I fit along with that winning culture.”

Furthermore, Williams continues, “I want to win. I’m gonna go out there and help the team win, whatever you need me to do. Hopefully I put it on tape enough.”
