Former Illinois Football Player Expected to Start in the Super Bowl
Former Illinois Football player, Nick Allegretti, is expected to start in the Super Bowl on Sunday

This news comes after an injury to the Kansas Chiefs offensive line, specifically Joe Thuney. A pectoral injury he suffered against the Buffalo Bills is currently sidelining Thuney.
Allegretti has been getting lots of help from Thuney throughout their time with the Chiefs. Thuney is one of the more solid offensive guards in the National Football League, giving Allegretti a great colleague and mentor.
Is he ready for the big moment? Not many players in the league have been part of championship-caliber teams their entire career like Allegretti. The former Illinois Football star is already a two-time Super Bowl champion with the Chiefs since getting drafted by them in the 7th round back in 2019. And Allegretti has played a part in their success, participating in seven games during his rookie year with 13 total starts under his belt up to this point. He knows the team well, with a lot of continuity in Kansas City during the Mahomes/Reid reign. The Chiefs have built an incredible coaching staff, and roster, and have all the pieces in place for Allegretti to step in and help them win yet another Super Bowl championship.
