New Evidence in Illinois Basketball Star’s Case
Per multiple news sources on X, there are new developments in the ongoing case of Terrence Shannon Jr. Kedric Prince of IlliniGuys provided updated information from a public document and circled everyone’s attention to a specific bullet point. Per WCIAnews, Shannon Jr’s team recently hired a forensic scientist to conduct testing regarding the validity of DNA samples and results involved in the case. The document that Prince made available discussed a specific claim as follows: “The partial haplotype profile obtained from this item is consistent with a mixture of DNA from at least three males. Terrence Shannon Jr is excluded as a contributor to this partial, mixed haplotype profile”
Afterward, Amanda Brennan of WCIA News received a document from Shannon Jr’s lawyers that there is no DNA evidence. Additionally, the documents below relay more details surrounding the case.
What’s next?
There will be a preliminary hearing regarding the case on May 10th at 9 am. Further details are to follow. As always, basketball remains secondary in these serious matters. However, Shannon Jr just finished off a historic season for Illinois Basketball. He averaged 23.0 points per game on a team that made it all the way to the Elite Eight. The Illinois Basketball star will very likely be a first-round pick in the 2024 NBA draft. This is officially scheduled for June 26th, 2024.
