Illinois basketball prospect Marquis Clark shines at Nike EYBL
Should the Illini push for one of the top guards from the state of Illinois?

Illinois basketball offered Chicago-born guard Marquis Clark back in 2024 and I sat down with him to catch up on his recent success and updates on his recruitment.
Clark is a 6’2” guard who plays high school basketball at Whitney Young and AAU ball with Meanstreets on the EYBL Circuit. In the last game of session three, the Meanstreets guard dropped an impressive 25 points on 58.3% shooting. He currently leads the team in points per game, assists per game, and performance index rating.
Representing the city of Chicago
Clark has enjoyed his experience playing in the EYBL and representing the Chicago-based Meanstreets program. He stated:
“Playing in the EYBL has been a great experience for me over the years. Meanstreets is one of the best programs in the city of Chicago. I get to compete against the best players in the country and play in front of big-time college coaches.”
College coaches have taken notice. Clark mentioned recent contact with Nebraska, Virginia Tech, Oklahoma, New Mexico State, Iona, and Long Beach State. However, there have been no updates with Illinois basketball due to the shake up in the coaching staff.
He has not set any official visits yet, but Nebraska, Tulsa, and Iona have been reaching out daily, so visits could be on the horizon.
Clark is currently ranked as the #3 overall player in Illinois for the class of 2026 (247 Sports) and he will return to Whitney Young for his upcoming high school season. Last year, he averaged 20 PPG, 5 RPG, and 4 APG for the Dolphins.
He shared his goals for his senior season:
“Team success is the main goal. Winning the state championship and winning the city championship is the goal. Last year, we lost to Kenwood in the city semifinals.”Marquis Clark will begin playing high school summer basketball with Whitney Young in June before wrapping up his EYBL career in North Augusta in July.
