A massive test lies ahead for Illinois Football as they hit the road west to Eugene to face the number one team in the nation, the Oregon Ducks.

This is yet another ranked matchup for the #20 Illini. So far, they have already faced (ranking at the time of play) #19 Kansas, #22 Nebraska, #9 Penn State, and #24 Michigan. Of course, not all of these wins have quite held their shine over time. In fact, some of Illinois’ formerly ranked opponents have fallen apart (Sorry, Kansas). Regardless, the Fighting Illini secured victories against opponents whom experts, at times, heavily favored

Taking on the top-ranked Ducks presents an unparalleled opportunity for Illinois Football to strengthen its case as a top-flight team. Oregon is no joke and undoubtedly presents the Illini with their toughest matchup of the season.

Coach Dan Lanning celebrates amid a crowd of fans on the field as No. 3 Oregon knocked off No. 2 Ohio State 32-31 on Saturday at Autzen Stadium in Eugene, Ore.

So, you are saying there is a chance for Illinois Football?

Bret Bielema has this team looking sharp and well-rebounded from a near disaster against Purdue.

If they want a shot vs Oregon, Illinois must continue winning in the trenches. The Illini have struggled all season to win battles up on both sides of the ball. However, both units actually dominated the Wolverine’s offensive and defensive lines. Both of which are riddled with NFL talent.

Illinois plays their best when their best positions are making big plays. When Luke Altmyer plays confidently, and when Aaron Henrys secondary is forcing turnovers, Illinois is a dangerous team. Luke cannot make those big throws and touchdowns if he’s getting sacked. Those interceptions certainly do not happen if opposing quarterbacks have all day in a clean pocket. The Illini will need their big guys up front to dominate if they want any shot at knocking off #1.
