Coach Urban Meyer praises Illinois Football Coaching

Regardless of what we think about Urban Meyer and his escapades after coaching Ohio State, no one can doubt that he is a college football coaching legend. His success at the University of Florida and Ohio State is unparalleled and he is an astute college football mind. Meyer is now an analyst for BTN and typically provides quality insight. On Tuesday, Meyer spoke about Illinois football and his former coaching foe, Bret Bielema.

Meyer stated: “The University of Illinois is one of the best-coached teams in the country. You see them do the little things right, and that’s because that head coach has his hands on everything.”

This was all started upon the conversation of Bielema’s decision to go for a fake punt. The fake punt was called at a crucial point in a crucial victory over the defending national champions. Instead of giving the ball away, Tanner Arkin ran for 36 yards for a pivotal first down.

Tough, Smart Dependable

Illinois football is undoubtedly in great hands now. Bret Bielema has brought a tough competence to the Illini and has a 24-18 record to show for it thus far. On top of that, fan interest is at an all-time high and Illinois football just had yet another sell-out crowd.
