Spring football is underway in Champaign Illinois. Updates on Bret Bielema’s roster are now slowly starting to trickle in. The first of which, coming out on Tuesday. An announcement was made on 4/2 on “X” that Junior grad-transfer defensive lineman Dylan Davis has decided to part ways with the program. Entering his name into the portal. The Sarasota, FL native spent two seasons at Furman University, before taking a step up to the Big Ten. Dylan was named an FCS All-American during his two seasons for the Paladins. However, at that point in time, he was playing on the offensive line. He made the transition to Illinois, where he was unable to find much playing time. Davis made the switch to the defensive line last offseason which seemingly, was not a fit. A tough route for minutes behind the “Law Firm” of Keith Randolph and Johnny Newton.

Note:

Davis is part of a room that has been recently revamped by the Illinois Football staff. Primarily, in the portal. Players line Anthony Johnson, Dennis Briggs Jr., and Enyce Sledge help stack some veteran depth in the defensive line. Especially in a position where you are losing both of your high-caliber defensive linemen to the NFL. As many players find during spring ball, Davis was seemingly starting to trickle down the depth chart. Furthermore, he decided to part ways for a program for a program where he can find a better outlook for minutes. With versatility of being able to play on both sides of the ball, as well as being a former All-American, Davis will find a good landing spot.
