The Illini headman certainly has his team sharing that same identity. As Oregon head coach, Dan Lanning, said, the Illini simply do not beat themselves and play tough, dependable football. This is another game where the Illini will enter a raucous environment with house money. During their previous road game vs Penn State, the Illini actually started off well. However, a series of miscues took the wind out of their sales and they never recovered.

If Illinois wants to win, they cannot beat themselves and must continue to play that steady, clean football that has gotten them here.

Dan Lanning has established himself as an elite college football coach. In two and a half years in Eugene, the 38-year-old head coach is 29-5. Now, the Ducks have seamlessly transitioned into the Big Ten. They knocked off the Ohio State Buckeyes and everyone is singing their praise. Could the Illini, however, catch the Ducks off guard? An afternoon game against a tough, scrappy Illinois squad could be just what the doctor ordered to humble the high-riding Ducks.
