Illini RB Kaden Feagin to miss remainder of 2024 season
Per Bret Bielema, Illini sophomore running back, Kaden Feagin, will miss the remainder of the 2024 season. Feagin suffered a lower-body injury during a practice during the BYE week for the Illini. Feagin missed the game vs Purdue and Bielema initially announced that it was a unique injury still being evaluated. Athletic Director, Josh Whitman, became involved and reportedly helped Feagin receive opinions from multiple specialists.
Kaden Feagin underwent surgery recently and will unfortunately not see the field for the remainder of a successful Illini season thus far. Bret Bielema did state that Feagin may not be ready for Spring ball, however, he should be back by the fall of 2025.
A deep running backroom
Kaden Feagin will end the 2024 season with 67 rushes for 306 yards and three touchdowns. The Illini will certainly miss the power runs that Feagin consistently brought. However, the Illini have a talented running back room. Aidan Laughery had his best game of the season today vs Michigan. Josh McCray is an experienced back that seems to have returned to form and was solid today as well.
The Illini should ultimately be fine, however, they need to see Laughery take that next step as an every-down type of back. McCray has been solid, however, the Illini do need some explosiveness at that position that hopefully Aidan Laughery or Ca’lil Valentine can provide.
