Per Eric Bossi of 247sports, Illinois Basketball will host 3-star shooting guard, Keaton Wagler, this weekend for an official visit. Wagler is a 6 foot 6 inch combo guard out of Shawnee, Kansas who holds offers from Minnesota, Colorado State, and Southern Illinois. Based on the film, Wagler is an elite shooter. In fact, a majority, if not all of his highlights are shot-making highlights from behind the three-point arc.

Per his conversation with Eric Bossi, Wagler would like to make a decision sometime next week. Given that he will visit the Illini this weekend, our sources do tell us that bodes well for the Orange and Blue.

The Fit?

Illinois basketball has continued its search for a combo guard in their class of 2025. After Jeremiah Fears announced his decision to recommit from the Illini, Brad Underwood and his staff have searched for perimeter help. This makes sense as Kylan Boswell and Kasparas Jakucionis, the current Illini backcourt, are currently on the 2025 NBA draft boards. If Boswell and Jakucionis do take the step to the NBA, the Illini will certainly need shotmaking and playmaking.

Wagler would be an interesting addition to the Illini. Underwood has always looked for elite floor-spacing and the 6 foot 6 combo guard completely fits that bill. Additionally, Wagler has a strong positional size that should fit well in the Illini mold.
