Illinois Basketball lands Top-100 Shooting Guard in Class of 2025

Illinois basketball has landed four-star shooting guard, Brandon Lee. Lee is a 6 foot 2 inch shooting guard from Elizabeth, New Jersey. Per 247sports, Lee is the 98th-ranked overall prospect in the class of 2025. He chose Illinois basketball over offers from Seton Hall, Duquesne, and George Washington. Brandon Lee is the second commitment for the Illini in the class of 2025 alongside 6 foot 6 shooting guard, Keaton Wagler.

Lee’s top trait is his scoring. Over the Nike EYBL circuit, Lee ranked third in scoring during the regular season. Orlando Antigua was the primary recruiter for Lee’s commitment. Antigua has deep ties in that New Jersey/Bronx area and Lee currently plays at the Patrick school. The Patrick School is the same high school that former Illini, Giorgi Bezhanishvili played at. Per the Illini Inquirer podcast, Lee’s father coached Orlando Antigua back in the day.

Perimeter oriented

It looks like Illinois basketball is trying to reload its perimeter in the class of 2025. With the two commitments being guards, it looks like the Illini are expecting stability in the front court in the upcoming years. That makes sense as Morez Johnson Jr. should be around for some time. Notre Dame transfer, Carey Booth, is also a high-upside prospect on the roster. On the guard side, Kylan Boswell and Kasparas Jakucionis are both expected to make strong cases as pro prospects. If both leave after one year, the Illini will certainly need guard help.

Wagler and Lee are certainly lights-out shooters who can help the Illini immediately.
