Illinois Basketball Freshman Will Riley draws Ayo Dosunmu Comparison

Illinois basketball freshman Will Riley is certainly one of the most prolific additions to the program in recent memory. Riley seemed to come out of nowhere for Illini fans. He put up an impressive 42 points in front of Brad Underwood and Orlando Antigua. Next thing we know, Riley is on the Illinois campus for an official visit and rumors start to swirl. Illinois basketball beat out Kentucky, Alabama, and Arizona for a true five-star prospect and made it look effortless.
Will Riley decided to reclassify to the class of 2024 and arrived on campus shortly thereafter to join a very talented roster. In a recent video portraying the offseason workouts, strength and conditioning coach Adam Fletcher dropped a pretty intriguing statement. Fletcher compared the five-star freshman to another former Illini five-star freshman who changed the trajectory of the program. Ayo Dosunmu.
An Illini great
Fletcher was not exactly comparing on-court games for Riley and Dosunmu. However, there are plenty of similarities from a strength and conditioning perspective. Fletcher stated that Will Riley also has trained so extremely hard as a youngster, like Dosunmu, that his body needs to gain some flexibility. Though he has a rather slender frame, Fletcher seems to be focusing on giving the five-star freshman some flexibility so that he can utilize his athleticism a lot more. In fact, Fletcher used the same idea on Terrence Shannon Jr when he first arrived on campus.
If Riley can grow out his body like Dosunmu did below, look for Riley to become one of the top players in college basketball.
