Illinois Basketball News: 2025 Commit Brandon Lee signs with the Illini
Illinois basketball has officially signed both prospects in their class of 2025 recruiting class. Last week, shooting guard Keaton Wagler officially signed and joined the family after committing in September. Today, New Jersey shooting guard, Brandon Lee has officially signed as well. Lee committed to the Illini in late September over offers from Duquesne, Missouri State, and Rhode Island. Per 247sports, Lee is a four-star prospect and the number 105 overall prospect in the composite rankings. Brandon Lee brings a different flavor than Keaton Wagler. Wagler has a smooth shooting stroke and a smooth offensive bag.
Lee, on the other hand, is a rugged, 6-foot 3-inch combo guard who is really adept at getting downhill. He can bring an edge and a toughness to the Illini once he develops into a role.
Scoring pop
Illinois basketball is getting a player who knows how to score the rock. In the 2024 EYBL session, Lee was third in scoring at 23 points per game. He needs to become a much more efficient scorer, however, things should be different in college. Lee will have plenty of quality players around him and he will not have to do as much as he does on the prep circuit. Brandon is a streaky shooter. When he faced off against Rutgers star, Dylan Harper, on the EYBL, Lee dropped 34 points. If he focuses on becoming a knockdown catch-and-shoot option, while becoming consistent with rim pressure, Brandon Lee will be a solid player for Illinois Basketball.
