According to Bielema, the Sophomore running back’s surgery went smoothly, and he is home to heal.

“An update on Kaden – Kaden got home on Tuesday. Everything is very positive, the doctors have been awesome about it. The surgery went well, so he’s (Feagin) on his road to recovery.” stated the Illini coach.

Additionally, the Illinois Head Coach provided an update on the health status of the rest of the Illini. “From a health standpoint, really no changes, says Bielema. Everybody that played last Saturday, is everybody that is going to play this Saturday. So, should be good to go there.

Good News From Illinois Football Coach Bret Bielema

The loss of dynamic power back to Kaden Feagin is undoubtedly a significant blow for Illinois Football. Just as he was really starting to pick up steam, it was announced that an unfortunate hip injury would sideline #3 for the rest of the season.

The native of Arthur (IL) was well on track to a big sophomore season in Champaign. Despite obvious issues on the interior offensive line, Kaden was able to churn up 306 yards, and 3 scores on 67 attempts (4.6 avg). Certainly not mind-blowing stats, however, 133 of those yards came in his last two performances vs Nebraska (69) and Penn State (64). As it appears the offensive line and, consequently, the run game has begun to improve, it’s a reasonable assumption to believe Feagin would have continued his path of progression as well.

The Illini will have him in the backfield once again in 2025, but first, Kaden must get through the long grind of the healing process. According to coach Bret Bielema, the talented sophomore is well on his way to a healthy recovery.
