Illinois Football: Bielema Adds Updates to Injury Report
Illinois Football head coach Bret Bielema provides a few new updates to the Illini’s current injury report.

An Updated Illinois Football Injury Report
It’s been a hot start, but certainly, a bye week provides a great opportunity for Illinois Football to undergo construction. Luckily for coach Bret Bielema, his team has maintained good health up to this point. A key of course, in keeping momentum pointed in the Fighting Illini’s direction.
Coach Bielema met with the media on Wednesday, providing an update on the Illini’s current injury report. Check out the new name, and some of the status updates.
Updated IR From Bielema
In regards to redshirt Sophomore, Ashton Hollins, “He during fall camp had a shoulder subluxation, and at that time tried to rehab it, get it back to being healthy. Unfortunately, he had some issues with it the last couple of weeks, so he is going to opt to have surgery. That will curtail him for the rest of this year.”Â
Bielema also stated that “Kaleb Patterson (concussion protocol) actually was fully symptom-free today, he’ll be returning to practice here within the next 24 to 48 hours. Probably won’t practice him (Patterson) until Sunday. Should have him fully available for next weeks game against Purdue, and go forward from there.” states Bielema.Â
Interesting Notes on OLB Daniel Brown
When asked about former JUCO All-American OLB Daniel Brown, who has not played this season, Bielema said, “He (Brown) unfortunately kinda had a lingering back issue. He’s actually beginning to work, a little bit the last week, and we didn’t get him in practices this week. But, the hope is to get him involved in practice last week.”Â
Bielema concludes his report with an interesting tidbit on Brown. “We got a 7 window season, where we can at least play him (Brown) in 4, and kinda see how it’s going,” stated the Illini coach. Of course, Bielema is referring to the redshirt that Brown and Illinois Football could take. That is, if Daniel is only needed in 4 games or less this season. Â
