A Huge Bowl Game Prediction For Illinois Football

The Illinois Football team seems to have found its rhythm once again, securing back-to-back wins following the 2nd bye week. With a commanding 38-16 victory over Michigan State and a thrilling 38-31 triumph over Rutgers in Piscataway, momentum has evidently flipped once again in favor of the Illini.

Now, a struggling Northwestern team stands alone between the Illini and their first 9+ win season since 2007. A win would additionally mark their second 8+ win season, in just four seasons of the Bret Bielema era.

If the Illini can capitalize vs the Cats’ on Saturday (11/30) at Wrigley Field, fans might want to start thinking about booking tickets to Orlando.

Prediction

According to the latest bowl projections from Bret McMurphy of The Action Network, Illinois Football appears increasingly likely to spend New Year’s Eve in the Sunshine State. The current outlook suggests the Fighting Illini could likely face SEC powerhouse Alabama in the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl.

Note: The Citrus Bowl scouting staff was in Piscataway this week to watch the Illini close out a big win over Rutgers.

Notes On The Tide

Head Coach: Kalen DeBoer

Current Record: 8-3 (4-3 in SEC)

SEC Rankings: 6th

Best Win: No. 2 Georgia

Worst Loss: 24-3 @ Oklahoma

The Alabama Crimson Tide’s path to the College Football Playoff took a devastating turn in Norman, Oklahoma on Saturday, as first-year head coach Kalen DeBoer’s squad suffered a shocking 24-3 loss to the OU Sooners. Oklahoma’s defense decimated Alabama, preventing the Tide from scoring a touchdown for the first time in over a decade.

Now, attention turns to the Iron Bowl, which seemingly is surrounded with a questionable feeling as rival Auburn is struggling under Hugh Freeze, and of course with the Tide seemingly out of contention for a national championship. Can Alabama finish strong, and rebound from an eyebrow-raising loss on the road?

A win would likely secure the Bama to be bound for a Citrus Bowl matchup against Illinois Football. The bigger question looms – how many of Alabama’s NFL Draft picks would actually choose to suit up in Orlando?
