Illinois Football Coach Bret Bielema Thankful for Fans after Marquee Win

Illinois Football had their marquee win in front of a sell-out Memorial Stadium crowd. The crowd was electric and involved in the game like never before, and the Illini captured a major victory. Afterward, the social media videos showed just how powerful the University of Illinois fanbase can be. Between Josh Whitman’s account and the official Illinois football Twitter account, the video of Bret Bielema entering the Northeast tower would give any fan the chills.

Bielema walked through a packed Northeast Tower with thunders of applause raining down on him. Coach Bielema seemed to be enjoying the moment to his fullest and let out two passionate “I-L-L”‘s. However, the tower was so packed that Bielema’s chants were drowned out by cheers.

“Thank you”

After the game, Bielema stated, “I just want to say thank you to anybody and everybody that came here and put that stadium to a level that I’ve never seen before,” “I always made reference, I’ve seen this stadium full but I was on the other sideline.” 

“To see it [Memorial Stadium] cheering on our program, I thought this was a great moment, not just for our players but our fans,” Bielema said. “I can’t say thank you enough for that.” 

Those are some powerful words from the Illinois football coach. In year four, Bielema has certainly endeared himself to all of the Illini nation.
